Why Study Theology at JTS?
- Contextually Rooted Theological Education. This program is built on a fundamental conviction: theology is always contextual. It is formed within tensions between multi-texts, traditions, and identities.
- A Legacy of Social Engagement. Rather than treating theology as a fixed body of knowledge, we approach it as a critical and constructive discipline. Students are trained to engage theological traditions while also examining them, situating them within contemporary social, cultural, and religious dynamics.
- Ecumenical and Inclusive Community. JTS welcomes students from diverse denominations backgrounds, fostering a rich, open, and mutually enriching learning environment.
- Commitment to Interreligious Dialogue. JTS uniquely prepares students to engage thoughtfully and constructively with Islam and other religious traditions, an increasingly vital competency for church leaders around the world.
